STEADY WHITE SEABASS CAUGHT BY CASTRO'S CAMP SPORTFISHING BOATS

Oct. 9, 2004, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Erendira, Baja California, Mexico:

This week 18 Castro's Camp boats fished. The weather was very good in the mornings, with some light breezes of 3 or 4 knots in the afternoons on some days. The sea 2 miles off the coast is blue and clear, with a water temperature of 60 degrees. In total, Castro's Camp fishing boats caught 14 white seabass, 18 bonita, eight large yellowtail, and many barracuda, red rockcod, whitefish, bass, and lingcod. We used frozen squid, salted sardines, live mackerel, and lures of all colors.

The red rockcod, lingcod, whitefish, and other bottom fish were caught 90 to 120 feet deep, 6 to 7 miles from the coast. The white seabass were caught 60 to 80 feet deep, 4 miles out from Castro's Camp. We continue to have lots of bait in the water, and many pelicans and seagulls on the beach.
