CASTRO'S CAMP SPORTFISHING BOATS CATCH YELLOWTAIL AND WHITE SEABASS

Sept. 23-Oct. 3, 2004, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Baja California, Erendira, Mexico Fishing:

We had 16 Castro's Camp fishing boats fishing this week, in good weather, with light afternoon breezes from the northeast of 3 or 4 knots. Clear blue water at a temperature of 62 to 64 degrees is 4.5 miles from the coast. This week, Castro's Camp caught 11 white seabass, seven large yellowtail, 20 bonita, and lots of barracuda, rockcod, lingcod, whitefish, and cabrilla. For bait, we have live mackerel, frozen squid, and salted sardines. The white seabass were caught 3 miles from Castro's Camp at a depth of 50 to 80 feet, and the rockcod were caught 5 to 6 miles out and about 90 to 120 feet deep. We continue to have a lot of bait and seagulls and pelicans on the beach at Erendira.
