ENSENADA'S 238 FISHING SPOT YIELDS YELLOWTAIL AND DORADO

Aug. 28, 2005, Emerald Argonza, Matador Sportfishing, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:

Capt. David Silva skippered the Matador on Aug. 26th with 4 anglers and headed south of Ensenada to the lower 500 area. They started fishing at about 6 a.m., but had slow fishing until late. They then decided to move north to the 238 spot. They ran into a kelp paddy that held Dorado and Yellowtail and finished the day. They limited with Dorados and about 20 yellowtail. They released 15 dorado and 12 yellowtail. All were caught on live bait flylined. The water was deep blue at 70 degrees.

I skippered the Matador with 3 anglers on Aug. 25 and fished the Soledad area and boated one yellowtail, 43 rockcods, one lingcod, one salmon group and one sugar head bass. All fish were caught with live bait and anchovies.
