BAJA COASTAL FISHING REPORTS FROM SOUTH OF ENSENADA

June 10, 2005, Sammy Susarrey, Lily Fleet, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:

The Amigo fished two days and the Tamara fished one day south of Ensenada during this period. So far, the fishing has been good for bottom fish at San Jose reef, and there have also been some yellowtail breezing on the reef, and at San Isidro. We have been catching these fish with Tady 45 light lures in purple and white, about two fish per rod, to 20 pounds. From Punta Cabras, we have reports that they are starting to catch big white seabass to 40 pounds. Also a local Ensenada fishing boat reported good bottom fishing at Punta Banda bank, and another boat did well on medium barracuda and a few yellowtail on the outside reef at Punta Santo Tomas. The water temperature in the fishing area south of Ensenada, at San Jose, San Isidro, and Punta Cabras, was 60 degrees. The weather has been chilly, and the outside fishing has been slow.
