NO TUNA FOUND IN FISHING TRIP OFFSHORE OF ENSENADA

June 4, 2005, Gerardo Sanchez, KCHTS Sportfishing, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:

Last Sunday, May 29th, we went fishing out of Ensenada on a tuna trip. We went all the way up to the 2020 spot and we didn't found anything. The water was good until about 40 miles out of Ensenada. We saw a lot of bait, kelp paddies, but no fish.

Fishing locally at Ensenada during the week, we caught bottom fish limits, and also log size barracudas, and a few yellowtail. They are here, but they are not biting.

Yesterday, in local fishing, we got limits on bottom fish. Today, I went to the 238 spot. The water was clear and 63 degrees, but no fish. Only bait. We had one strike, but it cut the line. We finished the day fishing at Soledad bank, for bottom fish limits, a lot of salmon grouper, rockcod, and lingcod.
