ENSENADA FISHING ABOARD THE SERGIO'S SPORTFISHING BOAT CLIPPER II

Nov. 8, 2004, Joe Ludka, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

On Nov. 6, I and my son Little Joe and Eric Kiel, out of Long Beach, fished out of Sergio's with Captain Mario on the Ensenada fishing boat Clipper II. We love Mario. He's fished Ensenada for 28 years and if anyone knows where the fish are, he does. Since this time of year is part of the transition period between warm and cold waters, the fishing was a little slow around Ensenada. We got nice sardines, 4-5 inches, from Mike's and fished inshore at the Punta Banda and La Bufadora areas.

There were a total of 8 anglers and we caught some nice Ling Cod and Bonito, with a couple of Sculpin and rockfish. There was an average of 5 fish per angler. Ensenada seas were flat and the water nice and clear. The sun came out first thing in the morning and was beautiful all day long. No one "chummed" on this trip.

We stayed at the Villa Fontana in Ensenada two nights at $60 per night. The Fontana is nice, just a little noisy with all the partyers coming back to their rooms at 4 a.m. On our return trip home, we went to the Black Market and bought 6 kilos of clams (steamers) for $10 and had a fantastic dinner Sunday evening.
