KAYAK FISHING TRIP TO EAST CAPE'S HOTEL PUNTA COLORADA

La Jolla Kayak Fishing had a fishing trip to Hotel Punta Colorada May 9-18, 2005. The fishing near shore has was off due to colder water and very little bait. A few small roosterfish were caught but only one of size. This was a 35 pounder caught by Theresa O'Malley which literally put her on the beach. The fish was caught trolling a live mullet right in front of the hotel.

The fishing offshore at East Cape was not much better for us. We saw many tailing marlin and sailfish but just couldn't get them to bite for us.

James Drummondo did manage to catch a 30 pound bull Dorado while fishing with a live mackerel. Guide Jim Sammons of La Jolla Kayak Fishing also caught a 25 pound Yellowtail while yo-yoing a mackerel pattern Megabait.
