BAJA FISHING TRIP TO HOTEL PLAYA DEL SOL FOR LOTS OF STRIPED MARLIN ACTION

April 5, 2005, Don Anderson, East Cape, Baja fishing trip, Mexico:

I got back last night from fishing at Hotel Playa del Sol at East Cape. Striped Marlin moved big time into the area from 5-7 miles off La Ribera down to the same distance off Punta Colorada. Fish were everywhere, feeding on bait balls all over the bay. Although many fish were taken on the troll, most of the action was running from one bird school to another as the fish popped up, and casting mackerel. Everyone out there did well. I tagged eight myself on the Maria II with Martin Olachea. Even as I was fighting fish, others would come up around us. One time I counted eight boats hooked up around us at the same time. The fishing water at Playa del Sol was only 70 degrees, and Thursday, April 1 was windy. Then Friday and Saturday it was flat. Almost no Dorado or Tuna this week at Playa del Sol. Cool nights but up to 90 degrees in the day.
