TIN BOAT FISHING OUT OF MARTIN VERDUGO'S
BEACH RESORT HAMPERED BY WINDS AT EAST CAPE

Dec. 12, 2004, Sam Leeper, at Martin Verdugo's Beach Resort sportfishing, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

We had another quiet East Cape fishing week at Los Barriles for numbers of fishermen, both from lack of fishermen around and wind hampering tin boaters.

I fished Wednesday and landed a 25-pound dorado, 3 minutes off my anchor, then fished all the way to Pescadero with only two small skippies, then hooked and released two small dodo close to Verdugo's. I fished two hours Saturday without a strike. Cruisers are few, and the ones fishing are going north and getting a few small dorado, and occasionally finding small tuna. Sierra are available near El Cardonal and Rancho Leonero. Pangueros are getting snapper when they can make bait, but that is infrequent. Water 73 degrees, air temps fifties to eighties.
