BUENA VISTA BEACH RESORT FLEET BOATS
DOING WELL FROM LA RIVERA TO LOS FRAILES

Sept. 24-30, 2004, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort fishing, Baja California Sur, East Cape, Mexico:

Total boats out: 27. Fishermen: 82. Weather Temperature: 90's. Water Temperature: 83°- 85°. Fish count, including released fish: Blue Marlin 1. Striped Marlin 1. Sailfish 3. Dorado 68. Tuna 62. Roosterfish 1. Snapper 96. Amberjack 1. Bonita 5. Pompano 1. Triggerfish 10. Cabrilla 1. Skip Jack 10. Parrot Fish 2.

Water Temperature: It has been one of the most stable years at East Cape (water temperature wise) in a long time, we hope this continues on through out our winter months. It is funny after a few years of hearing so many talks about "El Nino" current with nothing happening, it seems that this year really came to quite those voices. That is a reason why I keep off from making predictions.

Air Temperature: Beautiful hot days, but it has been a very nice summer, we haven't had those really hot days. Some days we don't cross 94 degrees which for September is really nice.

East Cape Fishing Spots and Distance: When something is working why change it, even though this week was better fishing than last year, our fleet continues to fish the "pescaderos" (fishing spots) right in front of La Rivera for tunas, snappers among other species. There were some East Cape fishing boats going further out to Los Frailes and beyond to find some billfish, also to the North to El Cardonal, but most of our guests are happy fishing dorado and tuna.

Offshore Fishing: Tuna and dorado is what most of everyone wants, this continues from last week fishing. Billfishing started to get better we'll see about it next week.

Inshore Fishing: Not too many guests going to fish for roosters, but Arturo reported that on Friday, which will be for next week, they went and caught some up to 30 lbs, good size, and we'll see Arturo's report next week.

Successful Lures: Petrolero (brown with orange and little gray), Chivato (Yellow, orange, with black stripes), Purpura (black with purple). I may be missing some as they tried everything this past week.

Bait Used: Arturo reported no problem with bait this past week.

Highlight of the Week: The guys from Okuma visited us back this year, for their second trip of the year. Last year they had good time with some blues, this year they missed several, but John's dad ended releasing a nice one. And of course they are all fishing with live tuna.
