HOT MARLIN FISHING ON SCHOOLING FISH AT THE GORDO BANKS

June 16, 2004, John Mensik, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico Marlin Fishing:

I was down at Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort 6/10 through 6/15. Saw an approx. 500Lb Blue marlin caught off a private panga helped to shore by the hotel’s tractor.

Fished (4) days on the Vamanos for (45) Tuna and (5) marlin.

Monday 6/14, went south towards the north end of the Gordo Bank area. It was looking great but no activity ‘till about noon....then all hell broke loose!

Bait boils the size of houses popping up, marlin and sailfish everywhere. As we had one marlin hooked, I dropped a bait down on the bait ball, looked down, saw six or so marlin just muchin’ away below, and instantly got hooked up.

The action lasted until we left around 3:30 but other boats were still in this fish rich area catching them when we pulled away. Wild time!
