AN AUTHENTIC BAJA FISHING EXPERIENCE
AT EAST CAPE'S RANCHO BUENA VISTA

June 12, 2004, Lindon Lewis, East Cape, Baja fishing report, Mexico:

We returned 6/11. Overall we enjoyed the East Cape trip very much. The selection of Rancho Buena Vista, East Cape, I'm sure replicated the authentic Baja fishing experience that so many have enjoyed for many years.

Travel to East Cape via Alaska Air, went smoothly and traveling thru LA saved on the transportation budget. We attempted to arrange the ground transportation with East Cape Transport, who confirmed the arrangements prior to departure. However, they proved to be unreliable and failed to meet us upon arrival, or at our time of departure, fortunately alternative transportation was readably available. At a savings I might add, when shared with fellow travelers.

Tony Marron, Charter Master, and all-around host was most helpful at all times and made a constant effort to ensure a pleasurable time for all guests at all times.

My most important lesson learned however, was that you must make every effort to clearly communicate the type of fishing experience you expect. On our first day out I failed to do so and resulted in poor results.

Upon our return to the docks that afternoon, I relayed this with Tony, who personally meet us on the docks on are next fishing day. He had chosen a Captain and Mate that he personally recommended. He had informed them of are desires and the day was exactly as we had hoped for.

I would consider the East Cape fishing excellent, we caught numerous yellowfin tuna, and two dorado. The level of service and work ethic of the boat crew is unsurpassed.

One of the most notable things is, all most all of the guests we meet have been returning to RBV all most every year. Some for over thirty years. Three generations of family members was not uncommon.

The more experienced fisherman were landing every big game fish that I'd hope to see, marlin, jack crevalle, roosterfish, and sailfish were at the scales each day. Listening to my fellow East Cape anglers with their high level of energy had bountiful stories of there fishing experiences often made me the last to leave the dining room each evening.

I don't have an exact count of the fish caught during my visit, but I can't report of any angler reporting disappointment during our stay.
