DORADO TOP WEEKLY FISH COUNTS FOR
SOLMAR FLEET SPORTFISHING BOATS

Nov. 18-24, 2004, Benjamin Ortega, Solmar Fleet, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

For Dwight Pruett it was a special Thanksgiving in that Cabo San Lucas waters did the giving and he the thanks in form of two striped marlin and a single dorado. He fished the Solmar IV off the San Jose Banks.

Other fortunate Cabo San Lucas anglers who caught marlin over this holiday week included John Hoy of Glendale, Calif., and Jay Friedman of Arvada, Colo. Hoy caught his striper off the Old Cabo San Lucas Lighthouse aboard the San Lucas IV where he also boated four dorado and one wahoo.

Friedman bagged his Cabo San Lucas marlin on the Solmar IV while fishing the Faro Viejo Banks. Both anglers used live mackerel as their primary bait. An orange-and-black lure was all Kenneth Kelly and Craig Malone of Palmdale, Calif., needed in catching three yellowfin tuna and six dorado while fishing the Faro Viejo from the Solmar III.

Live mackerel worked equally well for Macedonia, Ohio angler Charles Sheets in taking four dorado and three yellowfin. He fished the San Lucas VI off Migrino. Mike Hood of Keller, Tex., worked the Cabo San Lucas Faro Viejo where he scored on six yellowfin and two bonito aboard the Torito. For Glenn Schuhmaker, of Palos Verdes, Calif., the 10 bonito he caught on an unidentified lure represented a slow day but had high praise for the crew of the Solmar II for the effort they put forth in working the Faro Viejo.

Captain of the week honors went to skipper Gerardo Agundez of the Solmar VII who produced five striped marlin, 33 dorado, 11 yellowfin tuna and four wahoo.

Total Cabo San Lucas catch for the week by the Solmar fishing fleet included 16 striped marlin, 46 yellowfin tuna, 96 dorado, 23 jacks and 19 wahoo.
