BAIT IS SCARCE AND FISHING INCONSISTENT
THIS WEEK AT BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES

March 27, 2005, Abraham Vazquez, Camp Gecko, Bahia de los Angeles, Baja California, Mexico:

Fishing at Bahia de los Angeles (L.A. Bay) is fair at the moment. There are some bottom fish at the local islands and inside the bay, some yellowtail in the northern reefs of Los Machos, Punta Remedios, and Guadalupe reef, but the fishing is inconsistent, with most fishing caught on the blue-and-white jigs. There isn't much good bait in the Bahia de los Angeles fishing area now.

Bahia de los Angeles weather is good, in the upper 70’s, and in the low 60’s during the night. The winds have been unpredictable with some nice days and some windy ones. The water temperature in the Bahia de los Angeles sportfishing areas is between 59 and 63 degrees.

There are no bugs, but sting rays are here now. The road conditions to Bahia de los Angeles are great. The desert is green and beautiful with the rain we had, and there are lots of people visiting for Semana Santa. The gas station has gas but they are not selling yet until the inspectors verify the pumps, so maybe soon. I do have my new boat, the Gecko IV here now, but I have not yet taken it out for its first trip yet. So far it looks like everything works on it. That's scary.
