EARLY SEASON DORADO SPOTTED FEEDING
NEAR BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES' ISLA PIOJO

July 13, 2004, Elijah Hayward, Bahia de los Angeles fishing, Baja California, Mexico:

On Sat. afternoon, Bob Hayward (my father) took the ladies out for an afternoon run out to the Bahia de los Angeles channel for some bottom fishing. He went to investigate diving birds on a paddy in the channel, about a half mile south of isla Piojo. Dorado were seen free jumping and were on a short feeding frenzy surrounding the paddy. The feeding lasted only a couple of minutes and they were gone. No live bait on the boat, and all rods were set up with heavy jigs, so he wasnt able to fish for them. He went out Sunday with live bait and called to inform me that the dorado were gone, as they checked several paddies for nada. Thats how the early dorado are in LA bay, they come in quick and leave with the outgoing tide when the water is not quite yet to their liking (77-78 degrees).
