YELLOWTAIL BITE INSIDE THE BAY
GOING STRONG AT BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES

June 26, 2004, Abraham Vazquez, Camp Gecko fishing, Bahia de los Angeles, Baja California, Mexico:

L.A. Bay fishing is good. The bite on the outer reefs slowed down because of the quarter moon. This is normal at Bahia de los Angeles, but the yellowtail inside the bay are still going strong. They are 6 to 20 pounds and take trolled stuff and live bait.

They seem to be in many places of the bay. Some of the hot spots around Bahia de los Angeles have been at Punta la Gringa and outside the military base, and also at Red Mountain (Los Angelitos) and in front of the camp.

It is so unusual to have the yellowtail inside the bay and so close to shore. I have not seen this in 20 years. There is still lots of bait in the bay, and the weather has started to heat up. Hit 100 the last 3 days, and very dry. The water temp is also going up. It is 76-78 degrees, we are starting to get lots of flying fish in the area, so we hope for a good dorado run soon

The whale sharks have started to show up. It is a great time to fish now.
